Well, a year ago this weekend, I wrote a very whiny article about how annoying Tennessee basketball was and how much better a very flawed LSU team looked. It contained this quote:
The point here is that I’m going to be completely honest with you all: I’m getting a little tired of writing about the local basketball program. When you write the same article a hundred times over, it gets old.
Oh, you sweet summer child. You idiot. You lunatic. Since January 22, 2022, one of these teams is 29-6 (15-2 SEC) and has played like a top-two team in America.
The other is 19-14, 7-10 SEC and fired their head coach for crimes.
If you subscribe to a very simple philosophy - that in a sport with lots of variance, things are never as good or as bad as they may seem - the last year becomes fairly digestible. Which is likely why an irrational fear of a game in which your opponent has legitimately looked like the 13th-best SEC team for a month is a safe assumption. LSU, even with a mid-major roster, probably is not that bad. Unless they are, and once again, I look like the moron.
BELOW THE LINE ($): so in this case the seagulls are former Murray State players and the trawler is Matt McMahon. I think? maybe
