In the same fashion that Tennessee/Missouri or Michigan/Maryland or 99% of ACC games feel in football, I remember barely anything about a Tennessee/Mississippi basketball game after it ends. I mean, I saw every second of these games, attended two of them, and…am really struggling to remember a single play or standout moment?
I know Tennessee won in overtime last year against Mississippi because I attended the game. I remember Tennessee winning on a charge call at the buzzer in 2019. I think Tennessee led 35-34 in the second half in that 94-61 game, maybe? And I believe that’s where my memories end. Mississippi has finished with between seven and nine conference losses in 13 of the last 20 seasons. They’ve finished sixth in half of the last ten.
This year’s edition once again cannot shoot a basketball, commits a lot of turnovers, isn’t efficient at the rim, doesn’t give up many easy points at the rim, and is generally an annoying defense to play against unless you’re shooting well.
