13-seed Mississippi defeated 12-seed South Carolina 67-61 to move onto the second round of the SEC Tournament, which 5-seed Tennessee “gets” to play in for the first time since 2017. (They would have in 2020, but, uh, yeah.) This is the first time in recent memory Tennessee’s played post-firing of the head coach since 2017-18, when they played…oh, Mississippi, a week after they fired Andy Kennedy. Weird how things work.
From here on out, there are no such thing as style points or covering the KenPom spread. Would it be useful for Tennessee to win by the 13 points or more that KenPom says they should win by? I suppose so for NET purposes. But really, it no longer matters. All that matters, from here until the season ends, is the W. Stack ‘em while you can, take ‘em however you can.
